Head Evasion

No one likes to get punched in the face. Well mostly... Keeping your head moving sounds obvious but to do it well so you can watch your opponent and pick out brief moments where you can land your counter and break their guard is a skill you have to learn. All the greats have fantastic head movement, so in order to up your game this is something you must have.

Sparring Tactics

Oh you can spar already? How do you time your opponent entry? How do you bring the gap effectively so you don't get hit? How do you draw your opponents attack before they are ready? Do you switch your line of attack to offset their power shot? How good are your feints and pulls? If you're not 100% on board with this kind of language then this is another reason to be part of this workshop.

Dealing with Mirror Leads

Yes this is tactical too, but has its own special place in sparring. Whether you are right or left lead, it's such a pain when your opponent doesn't match your lead. It feels awkward and puts your shots off line and crowds your distance. Well we will show you how to deal with these challenges so you can be confident no matter who is standing in front of you. We will show you how to correct your line, take the correct shots and be in the right space at the right time.

Close Quarter Combat

It's great to be out of range, dancing in and out like a boxing pro, but to land those killer power shots or overwhelm an opponent, you have to get in close and unleash those combos! This is also a great space in which to off balance your opponent and use some less savoury tactics!

Ring Craft

Specific to the competition arena but useful for anyone who is sparring, you need to dominate the fighting area and ensure your opponent is where you want them so you can control the fight. An essential skill.

Defensive Fighting

As great as you are there are times when someone is just a bit more athletic, a bit faster and and bit rangier. This is where defensive fighting comes in, where frustrating your opponent creates opportunities for you to counter them and out fight them. This is a more advanced form of sparring and one that will give great depth to your fighting. Don't miss this!
